Diederik Nomden boasts a remarkable presence in the vibrant Dutch music scene, spanning a
career of more than two decades.
Nomden spent the 2000s actively contributing his talents as
a guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist to renowned indie acts, such as Johan and
Daryll-Ann. Notably, his collaboration with Johan led him to perform at the 2001 CMJ Music
Conference.
Subsequently, Nomden versatility as a musician garnered him invitations to work with
esteemed artists including Ellen ten Damme, Bertolf, and Awkward i.
With select artists, he embarked on international tours, captivating
audiences in Germany, Denmark, Canada, and the USA. He also
played events like SXSW, NXNE, and CMJ.
Inevitably, Nomden embarked on a solo venture, releasing his debut album, Royal Parks, in
2012. The albumsingle She received substantial airplay on Dutch national radio. Plans for
a sophomore album briefly took a backseat as Nomden joined the promising Beatles-tribute
band, The Analogues, assuming roles as lead singer, guitarist, and keyboardist. This
partnership catapulted him to stages across Western Europe, including sold-out performances
at iconic venues like the London Palladium, Paris Olympia, Circus Krone in Munich, and the
Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, with a seating capacity of 15,000. In 2024 he played Pinkpop as well.
Further enriching his musical repertoire, Nomden played a pivotal role as one of the lead
singers in the CSNY-tribute band, Her Majesty, embarking on successful tours throughout The
Netherlands since 2016.
Despite his demanding schedule, Diederik Nomden found time to craft, perform, record, and
produce another album. Wingman Returns saw its release in early 2019, receiving favorable
reviews from the press, much like its predecessor.
The subsequent release, Parallel Universe, emerged in 2021 after a remarkably concise
writing, recording, and production process. Both albums exude the essence of late-sixties
Britpop, akin to the Beatles, immersed in the spirit of the Laurel Canyon scene spanning 1969
to 1972, evoking echoes of Jackson Browne, CSNY, and The Eagles. Intertwined with these
influences is a hint of melancholy reminiscent of artists like Tim Hardin and Nick Drake.
Nomden's solo performances are immersive, almost interactive experiences that guide the
listener through his lifelong musical journey. His warm and versatile voice, coupled with his
evocative melodies, forge an instant emotional connection with the audience. By sharing
personal stories about his influences and experiences, he deftly deepens the bond between
himself and his listeners. In addition to his original work, Nomden masterfully interprets a
diverse repertoire of songs that have shaped him as both a musician and a human being.
